On Sunday February 24th we will be changing the IP addresses associated
with mail.maine.edu to a new server.
If you have used the IP addresses that mail.maine.edu points to
(130.111.32.94 and 2610:48:100:820::5e), you will need to change,
preferably to use the name instead since IP addresses can and do change.
If you must use an IP address, the new mail.maine.edu IPv4 address will be
130.111.32.63 and IPv6 address will be 2610:48:100:820::3f. You can use
these now.
Please note: The mail.maine.edu alias handles outgoing mail relay for mail
clients within the University networks:
- Mail clients outside the University System networks or mobile devices
should use authenticated SMTP at smtp.gmail.com with their
@maine.eduaccount.
- Mail servers within the University System networks should be using
smarthost.maine.edu.
- Bulk mail senders within the University System networks should be
using bulkmail.maine.edu
Please pass this message on to those you think might want to know about
this change.
