I sent a previous post about this subject but it seems to have not gone
through.

Last Monday the Raymond and Patsy Nasher Sculpture Museum opened in the
downtown Dallas Arts District. The building was desinged by Renzo Piano and
there is a large sculpture garden adjacent. Ray and his late wife built the
largest private collection of modern sculpture in the world, and the museum
will display it on a rotating basis.

I was pleased to see that Gaudier-Brzeska's hieratic head of Pound was among
the works chosen for the initial display and it made the Dallas Morning News
critic's "top 30" list in the museum. I had seen the piece at Ray's home,
but the museum setting is much more effective.

A number of world-famous museums had courted Ray to obtain his collection.
I'm pleased that it (and Pound) ended up in Dallas.

Cheers,

Tim Redman
