If they read Milton, Paradise equals Eden.

Heaven equals the afterlife.

They can be synonyms but there are many contexts in which they are not
synonyms at all. One needs to argue the context rather than assume, as a
basis for argument, that they are synonyms. I suspect, for example, that
usually a loaf of bread, a bottle of wine, and thou would constitute not
heaven enough but paradise enough.
