When this was first released, I asked Chris if he would be coming and he
said he didn't know. I'll be going anyway since Harold Violette has been
a close friend since high school. Not only a great UMaine athlete, as a
coach at Winslow High School, in hockey, Violette won 72.4 percent of
his games in Winslow's first 15 years (256-96-5) and 72.6 percent of his
games in 16 years in football (113-42-2). Before he came to Winslow, his
first varsity coaching job was at Belfast, where he was 39-10 (.731) in
football. In both sports, at both schools, he was 408-148-7 (.731). He
won 10 state championships in the two sports, and in hockey, never
missed the playoffs.
