To honor Richard Britt, Maine hung behind the bench a uniform affixed with
his name. Presumably this will continue the rest of the year.

Lowell potted a gift goal early on a fluke breakaway. Alfie might have
been able to challenge coming out high in the slot against him, but chose
to retreat. This indecision caused the goal, IMHO. Alfie was solid
between the pipes the remainder of the way.

Lowell never seemed to have a clear advantage, looking like they were one
step behind the flow of the game, whereas Maine got to many loose puck
situations. Maine was workmanlike throughout.

The Bears worked the puck very well in transition, and in setting up in the
offensive zone. Very conservative at the blue line after taking the lead,
also.; the point men very quickly dropped off the line to ready their
defence.

All in all, a very easy dispatch of a weaker opponent. Lowell did not look
at all like the team I saw on TV last Friday night almost post a W against
BC.

A situation like the Britt tragedy can sometimes put a team in a "play up
to the level of the competition" mode; that may only work for one more
game.

Finally, nice to see "shoot high to the stick side" Clemmensen and his BC
Beagles get pasted by Chris Serino's Warriors last night. Merrimack goes to
7th in the league with that victory, and the second seed in the tournament
should be suitably worried about a repeat of last year. The UNH-Maine
series gets even more interesting....

The memory of Richard Britt is not lost in North Andover, either, you can
be assured; it also puts a rather interesting spin on tomorrow's contest at
Orono.

Be well, and see you all in Durham, home of the trespassers....
