Dan and I were able to watch the game on Portland Channel 13 up in
Portsmouth at a place called the Scoreboard (great place, they have are
loaded with tv sets and have great pizza). Our waitress was a big Maine
fan; and this was reflected in her gratuity (especially after she asked me
for ID and related a story on how she stood up to some obnoxious UNH fans
one evening).

Too bad they couldn't hold on to the lead. Although someone remarked that
they played great for 45 minutes, the boys have to remember that a hockey
game lasts for 60. Still, I have confidence that they will pull it all
together when it counts.

Can someone tell me if my eyes were affected by the beer I consumed, or did
I really see Gary Thorne out on the ice after the end of the first period.

I've enjoyed watching Paul Lynch, and hope that he's a permanent fixture in
the line up. I was also VERY impressed with Prestin Ryan last week at
UMass. I had made a remark after the Providence series that I thought the
team looked better without him in the lineup; however, I've changed my mind.
When he behaves himself (i.e., doesn't take stupid penalties), he is a
definite asset. Keep up the good work, Prestin.

Finally, one last comment that I've been meaning to post after heading out
to UMass last weekend - I was absolutely appalled at the constant use of
vulgar language by the crowd. It was worse than at any other rink I've ever
been to. I can deal with the "You S*&K" Cheer; every cheer ended or began
with an obscenity. Why is it that the schools (or league for that matter)
talk about "being a good sport" and that "foul language will not be
tolerated", but look the other way when it actually happens. I am the first
to admit that in the 44 years that I've been on this planet, I've done more
than my share of yelling at officials and/or players, but I've always tried
to keep it clean.

Thank you for letting me get up on my soap box; before I get down, I'll just
say -- GO MAINE - BEAT BU.

Cheers - Lindsay.
