I have a funny story for all of you Bear backers out there.
OK, first off, I am working at a newspaper in Western Mass called the
Berkshire Eagle. It's really western mass, too. At my desk I keep all
my Maine stuff up you know photos, posters etc. Anyway, the staff
here aren't huge into college hockey, so naturally I am always talking
about it. Whenever I am on the scoreboard page duties I always run the
Hockey East standings and scores etc. Well, recently I had a few days
off and I picked up our paper on Monday to see what was up and to my
big surprise I saw a 3 column AP photo of Martin Kariya hugging
Trattnig after a Maine goal against PC. I couldn't believe it. My
editor jokingly told me he ran it for me. Well, the next day at the
office I fielded a bunch of phone calls from people who wanted an
explanation as to why a Maine hockey photo ran in the paper. It was a
riot.
All these UMass Amherst fans were calling in demanding an explanation.
Well, I thought some of you out there might get a kick out of that.
