Speculation on your part, and since its to a public list, in rather
poor taste. :-( The puck didn't go in. There is no dispute.

Maybe the idea of someone doing a good deed just because they want to is
alien to some? Maybe Mr. MacFarlane was impressed with the demeanor of
Jason (I was) and saw an opportunity to make a difference in a most
positive way.

Yet you'll knock them because "I've only heard of..."? Pretty sad.

Corporate sponsorship of Maine athletics is extremely valuable ... it
allows the level of competition and number of teams that we enjoy.

Whether Bangor Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge donates to other parts of U
Maine has no bearing on this discussion. Disparaging remarks, which is
what I take the above to be, without basis and without bearing is like
asking all of U Maine and Bangor Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge to sit on a
table and look the other way while you saw off a leg.

Many companies and persons make money the old fashioned way.

No company or person *has* to donate anything to anyone.

>money, they can also write it off as a donation, they aren't losing
>anything. ...

I recommend against starting a business right away. A donation may
have tax advantages, but will probably still cost 50-70% of outlay.

Business students ... feel free to chime in here!

See above.
