Northeastern salvaged one point out of the weekend series at Maine with
a 7-7
tie this Sunday afternoon. Todd Barclay scored first for NU with 45
seconds
gone in the game but then Cory Larose and Steve Kariya scored for Maine
and
the Black Bears led after one period 2-1. Each team scored three in the
second
with Billy Newson tieing it 3-3 only to have Maine go ahead again on a
marker
by Bobby Stewart. Then it was Leon Heyward of Northeastern's turn as he
potted
his first of two. But Marcus Gustafsson untied for Maine only to have
Heyward
of NU score again to even the game. Jim Leger of Maine scored at 18:00
of the
second to give the lead back to the Black Bears and they led 5-4 at the
end of
two.
NU scored twice in the first minutes of the third to go ahead briefly
6-5. The
first was by Willie Levesque and the second by Matt Brown. But Maine
tied it
and went ahead 7-6 on Bobby Stewart's second goal and Ben Guite's tally
Willie Levesque tied the game with his second for the final time at
8:18 and
the scoring machines shut down for the remainder of the period and the
overtime.
