Not to be redundante but I would like the Google plan as well. I will want the email alert also.

Subject: Re: Summer Book Details

Google sounds great. I'm looking forward to this and may duplicate the process in my district using other content

Greetings everyone!

I'm very excited about this venture that is going to connect educators all over Maine during the summer months. It is not too late to join the book group! We are reading the book Inevitable- Mass Customized Learning: Learning for the Age of Empowerment by Chuck Schwahn and Bea McGarvey (from Maine).

I've just finished the first chapter today and this is a book that is going to resonate with many of you.

Here is the proposed schedule for discussion:
There are a number of people who are attending ISTE so I was thinking this group would start up the week of July 4th with Chapters 1 and 2. The discussion starts up for Chapters 3 and 4 on the week July 11th. July 18th would be the start of discussions for Chapters 5 and 6. The week of July 25th for the next two Chapters 7 and 8. The final week August 1st would cover the last three Chapters (9-11).

Now for a question on the mode of discussion. There are two options we could persue.

  1. Listserv-People can throw out their thoughts on things that resonated with them and people can react to emails. The positive side is that it is easy to use. The negative side would be people who don't want to be part of the book group would be getting these emails and the discussions would be closed to the people who are subscribed to the listserv.
  2. Using a Google Site (https://sites.google.com/site/actemintegratorsinevitable/) The positive side is that this can be opened up to a wider group and everything can be self contained and easily accessed. The negative side I would need to set people up as editors (not a big deal on my end).

What say people?
