I pretty much agree with Kathleen ... the Under-18 team was no match for our upperclassmen, though I really liked their Saponari ( forward headed to BU) and Warsofsky (defense).

Dave Wilson was OK in goal; it will be interesting to see how he plays in Denver, if Ben Bishop can't play. Travis Ramsey and Simon Danis-Pepin were terrific on defense, with Vince Laise and Billy Ryan stepping it up from good work last season.

The freshmen had ups and downs, and generally looked like promising freshmen. Very active were Tanner (built like a) House and Andrew (this is so) Sweetland (sorry!).

My 12-year-old said he'd rather have seen a Blue-White game than a game against high schoolers. ;-) The attendance was *much* better than a Blue-White game. Official attendance was 5,111, but I estimated 1500+ empty seats. With school on holiday, there were only 150 or so students discussing the U-18 goalie mouthpiece. Still, this is far greater income for the University than a Blue-White game, so look for similar events (exhibition) in future years, IMHO.

But so many players can look very good with less-strong competition, and blend into the background or look awful against the best. Look for the weekend with Denver to tell us a lot more about the freshmen and how our 2007-2008 season might go.

cheers, wayne

Billy Ryan looked really impressive tonight with some sweet moves. He's definitely going to be the team point leader this season. Laise also looked really good and was all over the place in all the action. A LOT of freshman played tonight. House was also in all the action and I liked him a lot. Banwell was solid on D and made a great pass to House that almost lead to a goal. Sweetland got some pretty assists, including one that I think was from behind the net.
