HITMEN RELEASE
Hitmen Acquire Matt Pettinger
For Immediate Release January 10th, 2000
The Calgary Hitmen have acquired University of Denver Forward Matt
Pettinger. This completes a very
busy day for the Hitmen as the team made a pair of trades just before
today’s 12 noon WHL trading
deadline.
Pettinger is leaving the University of Denver to join the Hitmen. He won
a Bronze Medal with Team
Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Sweden. The 19
year-old played Tier Two Hockey with
Victoria before receiving his scholarship. Pettinger was part of
University of Denver’s WCHA Playoff
Championship last season.
Hitmen Head Coach Dean Clark, who had the opportunity to coach Pettinger
at World Juniors says, “Matt
is a world class player that obviously adds a great deal of depth to our
line-up. We are very excited
about Matt’s decision.”

"He's asking for $3 million a year. Why doesn't he just ask for $7
million or $8 million? What's the difference? You're still being
stupid. It's just the degree of how stupid."
