I've got to agree with Joe here. Jim incorrectly states that there
is no history/tradition of college hockey anywhere near the city.
Princeton is damned close to NYC. West Point is about an hour away.
I remember going to a Clarkson/Army game there and being very
surprised by the local turnout - especially since Army sucked (they
were still in the ECAC at the time). Iona is within spitting distance
of NYC and they too have a pretty big following - perhaps some of
their fans would want to see "big-time" college hockey. And then
don't forget that New Yorkers LIKE hockey.
Lots of Ivy alums in the New York area. Lots of Clarkson alums
in the high-techish areas of New Jersey & CT. I'm not sure about
HEA schools' representation in the NYC area - probably many there
although I would think to a lesser extent. At any rate, I don't think
that this would be a flop at all.
