Folks who get either NESN or the Empire Sports Network will be able to
see some former college stars in the AHL finals, which will be
televised as follows:
- Game 4 on June 8th
- Game 5 on June 9th (if necessary)
- Game 6 on June 11th (if necessary)
- Game 7 on June 13th ((if necessary)
The Calder Cup finals this year features the Rochester (NY) Americans
against the Portland (ME) Pirates. I'm not very familiar with
Portland's players, but Rochester features:
- Hobey winner Brian Holzinger (Bowling Green) - 17 points in 14
playoffs games going into the Finals. Six of his seven goals have come
in the 3rd period.
- Goaltender Steve Shields (Michigan) who has been on fire for the
Amerks with a 13-1 playoff record and a 2.13 GAA.
- Craig Charron (UMass-Lowell) - a pair of goals in Game 2 vs.
Portland- 13 points overall.
- Captain Dixon Ward (Minnesota?) - 8 points, many in clutch situations.
Anyway, check it out if there's no Stanley on that night...but since
Rochester is 13-1 in the playoffs and already leads Portland 2-0 in
the final series, there might not be very many games to televise.
