A couple years ago, in the media, the argument was made that the NHL
ought to enlarge the rinks. The players were significantly larger and faster
than when the current rink size standard was established. The argument
was not for a 200x100 sized rink but something about half-way between.
Although it might not be logical, that size seemed to fit the math about
how much the players had grown.
Of course, to do so, it would be a loss of seats and therefore revenue
which tended to render the discussion academic. It is surprising how
much hostility is being generated by the current academic discussion.
