There's been some added interest this year in the "other" Division I
hockey programs -- the independents: Air Force, Army, UConn,
Canisius, Fairfield, Holy Cross, Iona, and Villanova. The
non-military schools scheduled additional games against each other
this season, and there's been some discussion regarding the creation
of a conference among these schools.
Anyway, thought folks might like to see how the mythical Div. I
independent "championship" has progressed. By my count, the
standings should look like this:
School "League" Overall
Army 4-0-0 13-5-1
UConn 4-0-0 8-4-0
Canisius 4-2-0 11-3-1
Holy Cross 2-2-0 5-6-1
Iona 2-3-0 6-6-0
Villanova 2-3-0 3-9-1
Fairfield 1-4-0 4-7-2
Air Force 0-0-0 1-17-3
Canisius has finished its "league" schedule. Air Force, alone out
west, doesn't really fit in this scheme. They have only 2 games
scheduled in this group for the season, a pair of games against Army
in February.
