Here is an excerpt from an article in today's Portland Press Herald:

"Where our team was at, we were out of sync," Whitehead said. "We've been
out of sync the last couple of weeks and unfortunately, I have to be honest,
I saw this coming."

Here's my question for everyone - if you are a head coach of a struggling
hockey team, and you supposedly see something like this coming, WHY DON'T
YOU TRY TO FIX IT AHEAD OF TIME?!?! To hear this type of comment come the
day after we get handily beaten at home by a sub-500 hockey team is
absolutely unacceptable. How do you make this kind of comment to the press
after what has happened recently?

I'm worried that this team is falling apart, and apparently the coach isn't
in any position to stop it, he just watches it happen and shrugs afterwards.
Obviously this team lacks a few key traits right now - including
leadership, desire and motivation. The question is, can they right the ship
before we are no longer around for the HE or NCAA playoffs?

Also - a comment / idea from the USCHO.com discussion forum: "Instead of
the introduction at the Alfond that tells us all about Maine's history (NC,
FF apearances, All-Americans, etc.) which has nothing to do with this year's
team, maybe they should just introduce them as losers of 4 out of 5 and 1/2
of their home games. I think team might wake up if they wree booed to start
the game."

It's unfortunate we are to the point where this is what we are getting from
our supporting fans across the country.
