What is the origin of the name, Variable watermilfoil? Haines and Crow and
Hellquist don't assign a common name - athough they call the genus
watermilfoil - Magee calls it Diverse leaved milfoil. Seems like there are
all kinds of taxonomic difficulties associated with this plant - both in
nomenclature and identification. Is there any kind of protocol for
assigning common names?
