P. S. I, for one, was rather delighted to read the discussion on Heaney and Beowulf,
for it seemed to shed light on how Pound treats OE. The angle 'Pound the translator'
seems to me as interesting as Pound the poet.
Besides, I'm interested in how Heaney's rendition of old Irish poetry such as 'Int
e/n bec' could be discussed (in the 'britpo' list). Heaney's somehow reminds me of
EP's attempt in 1920 of Arnaut Daniel's 'L'aura amara' (LE, 127ff.).
