Actually the season isn't that young. We have played 19 of 37 regular
season games.

I must respectfully disagree with Nonni. I don't think the Maine faithful
should sit back and relax. I do not think that the alumni and fans of a 2
time National Champion and supposed perennial national powerhouse should sit
back and relax and accept under-achievement that borders on mediocrity. Now
I am not denigrating Tim or his staff. I know Tim personally and have the
utmost respect for him and Grant. They are first rate coaches. That being
said, we should have high expectations of them and of the players. Yes the
season is young and they are ironing out the early kinks, but that doesn't
mean we should accept mediocrity. To be clear, I do not mean that we should
be calling for new coaches, new players or cutting of veterans. That would
be asinine. We should not though drop our expectations that Maine should be
playing for a National Championship each and every year. Yes, they are
lofty expectations, but that is what being an elite program and a national
powerhouse is all about. It is not a bad thing.

Good comment, Bob -- and could I please add that the Maine Discussion List
can be accessed from the UM server through the Hockey Folder that the kids
use for discussion of the topic. As a result -- the players and the student
fans can follow these kinds of discussions/outlooks/conjectures along with
the rest of us. Maybe no one is above reproach, but this is a team sport
with a team that is featuring a lot of new faces in this season. Maybe
everyone needs to relax and see what happens down the stretch ... when we
get to the stretch?
Cordially and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Nonni
