Greenwood Press is doing all kinds of projects like the EP Encyclopedia. I don't know about the EP project, per se, but was involved in another Greenwood Press project--the Encylopedia of American Literature of the Great Lakes and Seas--and what Greenwood does is find a couple esteemed scholars to organize/edit/manage a project, and thereby makes their lives wretched for a couple of years. Calls for articles started going out for the EP project at least 2 years ago, I think, at conferences and on the EP Listserv (this is where I found out about it)--and no doubt elsewhere as well. The books are designed to be informative and to make money. Articles are short.

Fellow Ezrians
Some questions:
We've had many web notices about the EPE. Anything in
print in Pai? Or were they plotting it in Beijing?
If this is indeed an encyclopedia rather than a
dictionary, which i doubt, how can it's organization
be left to the judgment of two persons (however
brilliant).
Is this a project for the public good or the private?
If the former, where are the guidelines? If the
latter, why should we care?
Am I the only one sitting in the dark?
