Great, athletics will be terrible until he leaves...  How does one reward poor performance with a contract extension?  Are they run by Wall St Execs?  What's next Tim Whitehead gets a performance bonus for exceptional teams?

 (NEWS CENTER)--  NEWS CENTER has learned that The University of Maine has extended the contract of Athletic <http://www.wcsh6.com/sports/story.aspx?storyid=110819&amp;catid=6#> Director Blake James.  UMaine Director of University Relations Joe Carr confirmed that the University and James have come to an agreement that will keep James as the AD beyond his current contract that ends in June of 2010.  James took over as the interim Athletic Director at UMaine in July 2005 and was named the AD in May of 2006.  Back in May of 2009 James was a finalist for the Athletic Directors job at Florida Gulf Coast University.
