The "Fan-Feedback" portion of today's BDN has an interesting letter
from Linda Mosley of Hampden. It may be viewed online at

   http://www.bangornews.com/Sports/20000104000000SportsLette.html

I agree with most of her letter and would especially like to comment
on one point she made (without quoting it) ... since I've been meaning
to do it all season.

The Alfond Orono fans have been wonderful this season! Not only are
almost all of the seats taken every game, but the fans are noisy and
having a great time, while being reasonably respectful.

It makes this long-time fan proud when, at the start of every game,
almost all fans quietly *sing* the National Anthem and, like the home
team, show respect for the flag and the singer/performer until the end
of the anthem. This isn't done by other teams; this isn't done at
other arenas. Gives me a smile and goose-bumps every time. (Thanks!)

Good luck in P'land tonight. We'll need luck and the fans at "Wear
White Weekend" this Friday and Saturday. At least Friday's game on
local TV. All games on the air and internet by WZON and WMEB radio.

cheers, wayne
