Scorer of Maine's championship goal gets NHL tryout
Associated Press
Friday, August 27, 1999
Marcus Gustafsson, who scored the goal that gave Maine its 1999 NCAA
hockey championship, will get a tryout next month with the NHL's
Vancouver Canucks. Gustafsson, who scored four goals during a
three-game stint last spring with Syracuse of the American Hockey
League, will leave Wednesday for the Canucks' rookie camp. Syracuse is
Vancouver's top minor league affiliate. ``If I play like I did in
Syracuse, my chances are good,'' Gustafsson said. In April,
Gustafsson scored the game-winner in Maine's 3-2 overtime win over New
Hampshire for the national title.
