I went looking for the roster you asked about, and I found some interesting
information:

HockeyDB.com shows Maine being an "Ind" team in the 78-79 season.  They
showed them playing in 0 games, although one of the players on the roster
somehow scored  19 goals and had 21 assists in 20 games.

I cannot find a record of any Maine hockey team before that.  So, either the
website's collection is incomplete, or Maine didn't have an NCAA hockey

Finally, if anyone has in their possession a roster of Maine's 77-78 team I
would like a copy.  I am putting together a numerical listing of every
player to wear a Maine jersey and need only that year, and oddly enough my
senior year of 82-83.  The Maine media Guide that year did not list the
players numerically and I had a couple of ?
marks.
