I was just wondering if anybody has heard whether or not UNH coach,
Dick Umile, will be punished for his recent tirade after the 7-5 loss
to UML Saturday night??
In case you didn't hear about it, Umile got into the face of Referee
Taylor and the two linesmen after the game. Needless to say, he was
a tad miffed. I think he had a right to be however as the contest got
completely out of hand due to Taylor's inability to control it.
Unfortunately for UNH, this style of play really favors the more
physical River Hawks. The tough call for UNH came on the 6th goal when
a goalie interference call seemed in order (Matile's stick and body
were being held) but Taylor chose to ignore that - this allowing a
UML skater to pick up the loose puck and fire it into the open side of
the net. I have to say that the quality of officiating in Hockey East
is way down this year. Even Cole (the "star" of refs in Hockey East)
has been barely adequate in my opinion.
