I have been thoroughly enjoying the discussion of Canto 93, but find it a bit misguided. Unlike in his specific works of translation, in The Cantos, Pound was experimenting with multilingualism, both in its poetics and its politics, and not necessarily only translation. Thus, it is these multi-lingual aspects of the Egyptian passages that seem to me to be more relevant than their mere inter-linguistic properties, as Roman Jakobson would put it.
