Dear Poundians,
I do not usually read the NYTimes business section with my literary eyes
open, but I think Pound would have been pleased to be quoted in an article
by Ben Stein about the recent subprime lending problems:

Catherine:
EP's words about that mean ole lady usura are very apt for today's housing
market and lending practices. Ironically, it is your namesake Dr. Paul who is
the ONLY candidate in the 2008 race for the Presidency that has an answer
and solution to all this nonsense going on in U. S. markets. The other
candidates are totally ignorant of intelligent economic knowledge. Congressman Ron
Paul (OB/GYN doctor by profession) was trained in economics at the Mises
Institute in Auburn, Alabama, and has a real plan to get this country back on the
right track. He has a COMPLETE platform to make it right for all Americans a
nd it will also be a great move forward for other countries in the world.
His only problem? Our country is run by the one-world government crowd who
are out to rule the world as one socialist entity with total control of the
people. That crowd owns the main stream media who have deliberately muzzled Ron
Paul's message from the masses who belong to the "duh" world of mainstream
TV watchers who simply say, "tell me who to vote for and what to do." DUH!!!
Usury (as EP stated), redistributes wealth from the middle and lower classes
directly into the hands of a privileged few.
The warfare/welfare state is so destructive to the middle and lower economic
classes, and only benefits the very rich. Dr. Andrew Bernstein in his book
"The Capitalist Manifesto" debunked the anti-capitalist complaint that
capitalism is the system that thrives on war profits, but it is truly the opposite.
During times of peace (which have been few and far between in recent times)
capitalist wealth and energies are focused on research and development of
science and technologies that benefit all of mankind, while during war it is
wasted on death and destruction in order to benefit a few.
It is a sad world we live in, but we can turn that around if we can educate
our people and return the Constitution to its rightful place as the guiding
light of a smaller government and a free market economy serving all of the
people.
