A few odds and ends ...
Not sure if this has been posted yet, but per today's Globe, Brendan Walsh
has accepted an assistant coaching position with Cronin at NU. He joins
Gene Reilly there, too - giving the Huskies a UMaine trifecta.
Also, Jerry York is going to have surgery for prostate cancer. We can only
hope for a full and speedy recovery.

And another note from AP ...
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) -- Division I men's hockey will hold its NCAA East
Regional at the Arena at Harbor Yard in 2009 and 2011, NCAA officials
announced Thursday.
Fairfield and Yale will co-host the regional, marking the first time any
site in Connecticut has put on an NCAA hockey tournament regional.
"Any time you are selected to host an NCAA event, it's an honor," Yale
Athletic Director Tom Beckett said.
The other sites for the 2009 tournament are Manchester, N.H. (Northeast
Region); Grand Rapids, Mich. (Midwest Region); and Minneapolis (West
Region).
Both Bridgeport and Manchester were selected for the 2011 sites.
The Arena is home to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey
League. The venue also hosted the 2004 NCAA women's basketball tournament
first and second rounds. It will be the site of the NCAA women's
basketball regional tournament next year.
"Hockey fans in the area will be very excited. The Arena at Harbor Yard is
a terrific hockey facility," Yale coach Tim Taylor said.
The Bulldogs have sold out 54 times in the past five seasons on their home
ice at Ingalls Rink.
