Women’s Hockey Places Eight on All-Academic Team
Wolf Named Hockey East Academic All-Star

Eight members of the University of Maine women’s hockey team were named
to the Hockey East Women’s League’s first All-Academic Team today.
Senior forward Raffi Wolf was also named to the league’s six-person
Academic All-Star Team.

Representing Maine on the All-Academic Team are freshmen Morgan Janusc
(Dundas, Ontario) and Vicky Johnstone (St. Laurent, Quebec), sophomore
Laura Maddin (Langley, British Columbia), junior Karen Droog (Listowel,
Ontario), and seniors Dawn Froats (Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan), Cailee
Heggestad (Frontier, Saskatchewan), Jarin Sjogren (Bengough,
Saskatchewan), and Wolf (Voerde, Germany).

To qualify for the team, an individual must have achieved a grade point
average of at least 3.0 in each of the two academic periods during
which she was actively competing. Wolf was picked as one of three
forwards on the Academic All-Star Team, which was selected based on the
top GPA’s by position.

Fifty female student-athletes from Hockey East’s six teams were
honored, including five from Providence College, seven from UNH, eight
from Maine, nine each from UConn and Northeastern, and 12 from Boston
College.
