FORMER OLYMPIAN HIRED AS STORM ASSISTANT COACH

Sunday, July 30, 2000

KEARNEY, NE - The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League
announced tonight that the team has hired a highly decorated former
Olympian hockey player
as the new assistant coach.

Chris Imes (pronounced: Ims) a member of seven USA Hockey Teams,
including the 1994 Olympic Team that competed in Norway will take the
assistant coaching
position left vacant by Mark Strobel. The Storm lost Strobel to the
University of Minnesota Duluth coaching staff back in June.

"Chris is a tremendous addition to our staff, with his vast playing
background and overall knowledge of the game," said Jim Hillman, Head
Coach and General
Manager of the Storm. "Hes not only a great hockey mind, but has built
a network of contacts from coast to coast and even Europe."

Imes graduated from the University of Maine in 1995, after leading his
Black Bears team to a 1993 NCAA National Championship. He was a
two-time First Team
NCAA All American in 1993 and 1995. The defensive specialist was named
the 1995 Hockey East Player of the Year, the 1995 New England MVP, the
Hobey Baker
Runner (college hockeys highest honor), and the 1995 USA Hockey College
Player of the Year.

The Birchdale, Minnesota native played defense on two USA Hockey World
Junior Teams in 1990-91 and 1991-92. Perhaps his greatest
accomplishment was the
opportunity to play for the 1995 USA Hockey World Championship Team that
defeated Canada for the gold medal.

Professionally, Imes played in the International Hockey League for the
Minnesota Moose in 1995, and with the Anchorage Aces of the Western
Professional Hockey
League in 1997. He recently retired from playing professionally after a
four-year stint in Slovenia.

"Im thrilled about the opportunity to join Coach Hillman and the Storm
staff in their quest to defend the Junior A National Championship," said
Imes. "I look
forward to working with the outstanding group of players that Jim has
assembled for the 2000-2001 season."
