From yesterday's UMaine Today:

0 Alfond Arena was evacuated for about two hours this morning while the
Orono Fire Department worked to clean up an amonia leak at the level of the
playing surface. Employees of a private contractor installing new boards
around the ice surface accidentally punctured a plastic pipe while drilling
holes in the concrete, causing the release of about one gallon of amonia,
which is used in the ice-cooling system. One person was taken to the
hospital to be checked out; he was back on campus this afternoon. Channel 2
did a live report for its noon newscast; Channel 5, Channel 7, the Bangor
Daily News, the Maine Campus and WQCB radio were all on the scene. The
Associated Press and Portland's WGAN radio also did stories. The Old Town
Fire Department, UMaine Public Safety and the UMaine ambulance were also
involved in handling the situation.
