While not really on the topic, let me explain.
 
The LISTSERV software allows the administrator (me) to moderate
everyone's first message to the list before I set them to have full
posting access.  This is a very specific, intelligent list and we want
to keep it that way.  This prevents people from sending spam messages
to the list.
 
Now, this next section only applies to UMaine FirstClass users.
 
The folder "Maine Hockey List" is essentially a subscriber of its own
to the ME-HOCKEY list and when you post a message to this folder it is
automatically distributed to the list without any approval necessary,
until recently.  The best alternative I have available via FirstClass
is to require all messages to be approved.
 
There are ways that FirstClass users can post without moderation and if
you are interested in that please contact me privately.  Also, I'm more
than willing to listen to suggestions about other alternatives, but
again, please contact me privately because this is off-topic for the
list.
