FALL RIVER, Mass -- Paul Olenik scored a power-play goal at the 2:55
mark of the final period to break a scoreless tie as UMass-Dartmouth
blanked the University of Southern Maine 3-0 for the ECAC
North-Central-South Tournament hockey championship Wednesday.
Olenik also had an assist on Paul Lambalot's goal about three minutes
after the first goal.
UMass-Dartmouth, which won its fifth ECAC title, wound up 21-3-1 while
USM finished at 18-9-1.
It was USM's first appearance in a championship game in its eight-year
history.
Kevin Kelly made 18 saves in posting the shutout and P.J. Schneider
added an insurance goal with 2:58 remaining.
Olenik was named the game's Most Valuable Player.
Bangor's Danny Smith made 40 saves for the Huskies.
