On the Maine juggernaut...

1. Mike says they haven't played as well lately... you have to
be careful gauging a team by it's scores... for example, a number of factors
contributed to the "low" and "tight" scores of the Maine/Lowell series:
(a) Roloson had a great weekend in net, with Maine outshooting Lowell in
both shots and quality shots by a wide margin, and (b) Crowder is a
very good coach who KNOWS WALSH's SYSTEM - he played a very conservative,
"Stand 'Em Up" game", hoping to get a few breaks on the transition...
The key is that in both the UNH and Lowell series Maine came at them in
waves AND consistently so (they had 50 shots in the second UNH game)...

2. One of the reasons hockey is such a great sport is that as good as
Maine is, a team like Northeastern can "steal" one if they have a hot
goalie and if that sieve for a defense tightens up (they were horrible
against Harvard in the Beanpot - they could have "stolen" one there
if they weren't)... watch this weekend closely... AND DON'T JUST
LOOK AT THE SCORES!

3. Another reason hockey is such a great sport is that when you put
two teams like Maine and BU out on the ice, you can forget the
records and winning streaks and how so and so did against the West...
you've got two well-constructed teams, two intelligent and "devious"
coaches, and the "pumped" factor... these guys are going to be so
sky high that the "talent" factor starts getting a bit fuzzy...
