As I sit here mulling over Union's 6-4 win over the Red, I figured I would cont
ribute a few observations.
Cornell sleepwalked through the first period. It was 2-0 before 4 minutes
were complete and Cornell did not seem to be doing anything right.
Parris Duffis had probably his worst game of the year. On a good night, th
e only shot by Union that would have gone in was the empty net goal at the end
of the game. Most of the rest werefluttering pucks, or misplays by the tender.
Union is not as bad as their record. Elis out there had better watch out
if they want to protect home ice next week. Although Yale probably already kno
ws that after the tie in Ingles.
I wish Cornell would not play afternoon games. This year they went 0-5 in
games that started in the afternoon.
Cornell seems to have a problem with the second game of the weekend. They
have not lost all year on Friday, but Saturday is another story.
It is a bummer to have the home season end on such a bad note (barring a ca
lapse by Yale and a quarterfinal gift of home ice for the playoffs), but the te
am has no one to blame but theirselves, they came out expecting to roll Union
just by showing up, and as we all know, that is why they play the games. It se
ems to me Cornell was looking at next weekend and forgetting about today.
