With Andy Moog suffering a knee injury and Matt Delguidice not off to a good
start with Team USA (150 min, 7.20 GAA), Delguidice today joined the Bruins
on their road trip in Winnipeg. Delguidice was loaned by the Bruins to Team
USA on Nov 27, and he apparently expected to be the #1 goalie there. He was
in Cleveland Sat for the USA-Russians game, but he caught a 2 pm flight to
Winnipeg. Delguidice's father is quoted in the Boston Herald as saying, "(Team
USA assistant coach) Keith Allain talked to him yesterday. Keith asked him
how he liked cold weather then told him he was going to Winnipeg. They said
he'd be there about a week."

A week is how long Moog is expected to be out barring anything worse. It seems
that the Team USA folks wanted Delguidice to return to the Bruins organization
anyway to play more regularly in preparation for the Olympics (according to
the Herald). They expected him to go to Maine, Boston's AHL team, but Moog's
injury apparently sped things up and altered his destination. The Herald adds,
"It is not known whether the B's agreed to return Delguidice to the Olympic
team when Moog is healthy, or even whether the U.S. team wants him back."

Details of the agreement between the Bruins and Team USA involving Delguidice
are very sketchy and well-guarded, so only time will tell if he has a future
with Team USA. I didn't get to see any of the games he played in so I can't
comment on his Team USA performances, but he had been playing well with Boston.
It seems odd that he'd have so much trouble with Team USA.
