Split solely by location:

East West
1. Clarkson (2)(E) 1. Michigan (1)(C)
2. New Hampshire (3)(H) 2. North Dakota (4)(W)
3. Vermont (5)(E) 3. Minnesota (6)(W)
4. Cornell (9)(E) 4. Miami (8)(C)
5. Boston (11)(H) 5. Denver (10)(W)
6. Michigan St. (13)(C) 6. St. Cloud St. (12)(W)

For once it makes sense to keep Michigan St. in the West and put SCSU in the
East. From there things get a little hairy. Cornell and Miami would be a good
switch, clearing two brackets from second round conference matchups. So the we
have:

East West
1. Clarkson (2)(E) 1. Michigan (1)(C)
2. New Hampshire (3)(H) 2. North Dakota (4)(W)
3. Vermont (5)(E) 3. Minnesota (6)(W)
 4. Miami (8)(C) 4. Cornell (9)(E)
5. Boston (11)(H) 5. Denver (10)(W)
 6. St. Cloud St. (12)(W) 6. Michigan St. (13)(C)

With this scenario, first round matchups are all clear and there is only one
possibility for a same conference second round matchup. IMHO, leave this
alone. This would make the matchups as follows:

4E - Miami (8)
5E - Boston (11)
     1E - Clarkson (2)

3W - Minnesota (6)
6W - Michigan St. (13)
     2W - North Dakota (4)

4W - Cornell (9)
5W - Denver (10)
     1W - Michigan (1)

3E - Vermont (5)
6E - St. Cloud St. (12)
     2E - New Hampshire (3)

In an interesting note, there are some potential good second round rematches as
a result of these pairings. Miami drubbed Clarkson 3-0 in Clarkson's worst
effort of the season, allowing 50+ SOG. Clarkson knocked around Boston U. 4-1
over Thanksgiving at Cheel. Minnesota and North Dakota always make for an
interesting meeting. Cornell could get to work on unfinished business after a
tie at Michigan. In a battle of Cats, the Catamounts could avenge a Governor's
cup loss to New Hampshire (Vermont also beat UNH early in the season).
