This is great news - thanks, Joe! Several times over the last year or
so, we have had discussions about how Montgomery deserved this honor...
it is nice to hear that it is going to happen.

The PC-Maine game will be on NESN Friday night - was this game chosen
so that the event would be on tv? When was the decision made? It
seems a little odd that we only find out 3 days beforehand.

Also, I am curious as to why it is being done now. I actually thought
it should have been done already, but then I was told that Maine
prefers to wait something like 4-5 years after a student athlete is
gone before bestowing such an honor. Is it because of the lockout and
the fact that Montgomery would be able to be there?

On the one hand, I was thinking that it would be nice to have both 19
and 9 retired in the same ceremony. But Montgomery really deserves
his own show. Number 9 will get his day, too, but I am happy that
Montgomery's will come first.
