The Maine Black Bears beat Northeastern 2-1 in game 1 of the best of 3
Hockey East quarterfinal series with the Huskies Thursday night.
Matthias Trattnig and Martin Kariya scored for Maine. Kariya played hard
all night and his goal was a product of being a great athlete. Kariya put
back a rebound of a Michael Schutte shot as he was being leveled to the
ice for the game-winner.
Maine is now 20-0 all-time in home conference playoff games according to
Hockey East. They'll go for #21 and a spot at the FleetCenter on Friday.
As an aside, the game was certainly not sold-out tonight by my eyes. I
know snow is in the forcast, however, if you are interested in tickets you
should definitely check in with the ticket office on Friday (581-BEAR).
Thanks to all the fans who were there, for the third straight game it was
a manic playoff atmosphere and the fans were tremendous.
