H. D. was probably affectionately and romantically linked to Pound for her
entire life. He probably did not reciprocate romantically after their brief
engagement. At the time of "Des Imagistes" she, of course, was married to
Richard Aldington. A marriage not born in heaven. Read her "Envy".

I have not studied the French imagisme. I get the idea, however, that it
was linked to both Impressionism and Symbolism. Impressionism and Symbolism
were not, according to Pound, what Imagism (Vorticism) was.

I think one has to consider the technical rules of Imagiste ("Literary
Essays of Ezra Pound", pg 3) as just that; a technical "how to" manual.
They are not, what some seem to think, a "what is it" description. The
"what is it" description is found on page 4 and seems much ignored. The
technical rules might be looked at as a paint by numbers kit. The kit
results in an oil painting, sure-nough.
