The Ezra Pound Society,an Affiliated Organization of the MLA, will sponsor
two sessions at MLA 2003 in San Diego, California.

1. "EZRA POUND IN
EDWARDIAN AND GEORGIAN ENGLAND"

We invite papers on any topic related to
either the work that Pound was doing while he lived in London (1909-1921)
or the movements and ideas that influenced him during that time.
Particularly welcome will be those precis that address less-studied texts,
issues, and periods (e.g., the prewar years).

Please email a usefully
detailed abstract and a current c.v. (formatted in MS Word or as an RTF)
to
Patricia Cockram <[log in to unmask]> no later than Monday, 24 March.

2.
"IMAGE/IDEOGRAM/COLLAGE"

We invite critical explorations of Pound's
theories and uses of the visual resources of poetic language that offer a
new perspective or engagement with a new issue. The most attractive
proposals will analyze innovations in visual modes of linguistic
representation (or of imagination) by attending to specific issues of
production, circulation, or reception. This panel is not historically
bounded.

Please email a usefully detailed abstract and a current c.v.
(formatted in MS Word or as an RTF)
to Matthew Hofer <[log in to unmask]>
no later than Monday, 24 March.
