Last Rural Sustainability Workshop!
We have one more opportunity to hold a Rural Sustainability Workshop
here in Augusta at the Maine State Library on April 19, 2007.
So if you haven't yet attended one of these great workshops (and also
need some help with technology plans) please send me an email to enroll.
The workshops are designed to empower small rural public libraries with
information and resources for sustaining their technology and advocating
for their libraries in their communities. The workshops will also
provide an opportunity for rural public librarians to share time-saving
ideas, success stories, develop a technology plan and connect with
others facing the same challenges.
The feedback from these workshops has been extremely positive.
Participants appreciate:
1) connecting with colleagues and networking with folks in similar
straits; 2) being exposed to new ideas and energy; 3) exploring the
different resources available on WebJunction; 4) being given the time
and the space to think about the needs and potential paths an individual
library could take; 5) realizing they are not alone in their struggles
and there are many places to go for support.
Please arrive at 8:30am to find a seat and enjoy breakfast. The workshop
will begin promptly at 9:00 am and end before 4:00 pm. Lunch and
refreshments will be served. These workshops are sponsored by the Bill
and Melinda Gates Foundation and WebJunction. We will reimburse travel
expenses for your library if you have not yet attended one of these
workshops.
Co-presenters will be Maine State Library staff:
Elaine Stanley, Reference Services Coordinator
Janet McKenney, Coordinator of Learning & Technology Services,
