MAINE MEN’S HOCKEY ANNOUNCES COMMITMENTS
ORONO, Maine– The University of Maine men’s ice hockey coach Tim
Whitehead announced today that his program has received commitments
from Wes Clark, Keenan Hopson, Matt Lundin, Tim Maxwell and Travis
Ramsey to attend the University of Maine in the fall of 2004.

Clark is a 5-11, 185 pound forward from Oakville, Ontario. This past
season he played with the Milton Icehawks and had 22 goals and a
team-high 35 assists for 57 points. In two years with the Icehawks,
Clark tallied a total of 120 points placing him 11th on the
organization’s all-time scoring list. “Wes has put up some great
numbers in the PJHL in Toronto,” said Whitehead. “We are excited about
the way he competes and his ability to make plays in traffic.”

Hopson is a 6-1, 190 pound forward from Prince George, British
Columbia. He played this past season with the Prince George Spruce
Kings, scoring 34 goals and 66 assists for 100 points in 58 games.
Hopson had ten power play goals and five shorthanded goals and was
named team Most Valuable Player. “Keenan is a highly skilled forward
who will help us in all situations, including power play and penalty
kill,” said Whitehead. “He plays with his head up and has a great sense
of the game.”

Lundin is a 6-1, 175 pound goalie from Apple Valley, Minnesota and
played for Apple Valley High School. This season he had a 2.26 goals
against average and a .941 save percentage and he won the Frank Brimsek
Award given to the top senior goalie in the state of Minnesota. Lundin
is a two-time Pioneer Press all-state goalie. “Like his brother Mike,
Matt is an elite athlete who is ready to make the jump from high school
hockey to the college level,” Whitehead said. “Matt is a fierce
competitor with great anticipation and passion for the game.”

Maxwell is a 5-11, 168 pound defenseman from Sherwood Park, Alberta.
This season he had 16 goals and 31 assists for 57 points with the
Sherwood Park Crusaders of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. “Tim is an
elite skater with great offensive skills,” said Whitehead. “We believe
he will impact our team in all situations, power play and penalty kill
included.”

Ramsey is a 6-4, 211 pound defenseman from Lakewood, California. He
played this past season for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, scoring five
goals with 20 assists for 25 points in 57 games. “Travis has really
emerged for Salmon Arm this year as a strong defensive defenseman who
is surprisingly skilled and mobile for a big man,” said Whitehead. “We
are excited to add Travis to our core of defensemen.”

These five players join Bret Tyler and Rob Bellamy, who committed to
Maine last fall. The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent
upon admission to the University of Maine and compliance with all NCAA
rules, including registration with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
