Over the next few weeks the name "Holdings Database" will be supplanted by
the acronym SOLAR, for "Statewide Online Lending And Requesting".  The look
of the online catalog at http://130.111.64.7 will change, as will that of the
web pages ( http://www.state.me.us/msl/infonet/hd_home.htm ) that describe
its function within the evolving online resource sharing scheme of things
here in Maine.

Along with the change in cosmetics comes a gradually increased emphasis on
SOLAR as the means by which libraries otherwise uninvolved with online
systems like URSUS or MINERVA can nevertheless link with major collections
for online borrowing and lending transactions.
