Howard Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week


ORONO, Maine-- University of Maine goaltender Jimmy Howard (Ogdensburg,
N.Y.) was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Monday. Howard stopped 35
shots, one shy of his career high, in a 2-1 overtime win over second-ranked
New Hampshire on Friday night. He held UNH scoreless on six power play
chances and stopped all 14 shots when the Black Bears were short-handed.

Howard is 7-1-0 on the season with a 1.33 goals against average and a .949
save percentage. It is the second time in the past three weeks that Howard
has been named Hockey East Rookie of the Week.

The Black Bears return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 26 when they host
Quinnipiac at 7:00 p.m. at Alfond Arena.
