According to the O-Zone, "OSU hockey coach John Markell has been rewarded
for his outstanding season last year. The university announced today that
Markell's contract has been extended until the year 2002. The terms of the
contract were
not announced."
 
Based on the steady improvement of the team from the depths of Diviision I
hockey to a Final Four finish, Markell clearly deserves the extension.  The
security of the extension, playing in the Schott, a good recruiting class
all bode well for the hockey program.  Hockey should become a revenue
generating sport at OSU in the near future.
