(From UMaine Today)

o Former Black Bear hockey player Paul Kariya, now a member of
the National Hockey League's Anaheim Mighty Ducks, was honored
by the NHL last night with his second consecutive Lady Byng Award,
given to the league's most sportsmanlike player. Paul's brother
Steve, a UMaine junior next year, won a similar award last season
in Hockey East. Paul Kariya was also one of three finalists for the
NHL's Most Valuable Player Award, but did not win it.
