ome of you have responded that this is *not* good news for women's hockey
because of the money spent in a lawsuit.  New information in today's UMaine
Today says that it is *NOT* a lawsuit but simply a complaint and a threat
to sue.  Here is the part from UM Today..

o Some more details on this matter have become available since
yesterday's UMaine Today.  The action announced was a complaint filed
with the US Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights, not a
lawsuit.  How UMaine made the list of 25 remains a mystery, but a
representative of the National Women's Law Center told the BDN that
UMaine is not one of the 25 worst institutions in the country in this
regard.  The data the organization used was from 1995-96.
