To punctuate DaveW's "No", I'll volunteer...
 
It's my understanding that this lawsuit is about the "gap" in the
average amount of scholarships for women vs men.
 
Since a start-up women's ice hockey team might be expected to offer few
scholarships, any settlement of this law suit might have detrimental
effects, in that it would add women's athletes, but potentially increase
the "gap".
 
From Dale Duff of WZON radio:
Maine women student (recruited?) athletes receive on the average about
$2,000 less than men.  Northeastern ($1,900), UNH (?) and BU ($3,700)
are some of the other schools named in this law suit.
